August, 10, 2007 - The St. Rita Family Festival in Racine is ready to show why it's been voted Racine's Number One Church festival.
This year's event takes place Friday, Saturday and Sunday, August 17th through the 19th , at the beautiful parish grounds at 4339 Douglas Avenue on Racine's North side.
Ride specials for the kids, games of chance for the adults, food and top flight entertainment will make this years festival another one to remember.
Friday night starts it off with the annual fish fry. Headlining the entertainment tent will be Racine's own Bad Boy.
Saturday highlights include a Texas Hold 'Em tournament in the school gymnasium. Registration starts at 11:30 AM and play begins at 1:00 PM. Saturday main stage entertainment features Cold Sweat. Milwaukee radio station WKLH 96.5 will be broadcasting live again this year at St Rita from 7:00 PM Saturday until closing at midnight.
After Mass at 8:00 or 10:30 on Sunday morning in our brand new church, fair goers can enjoy a spit roasted chicken dinner while being entertained in the gym by Whispering Music. Dinner starts at noon.
On the entertainment side, St. Rita welcomes nationally acclaimed comedian Pat McCurdy from 4:00 in the afternoon until 6:00 at night. Mean Jake will close out the entertainment on Sunday from 6:00 until 9:00.
Hot dogs, homemade Italian Sausage and bombers, roasted corn, ice cream, hamburgers, cream puffs and assorted snacks will be available again this year to satisfy the hungry masses.
Don't forget that there's free parking, free admission, a Bingo tent, and basket raffles and the Super Raffle with prizes exceeding $5,000.
Support for the St Rita Family Festival has been growing over the years from various sectors. From the immediate residents to restaurants, to service providers, to small and large business, all of them join with St Rita in this wonderful community building event.
Not new to the overall support of St Rita is its terrific neighbor, Vulcan Materials Company. "We are very excited to help support this year's festival, St Rita is an important part of our community," said Racine Quarry Plant Manager Don Lindner. "We look forward to a great celebration at the fest and to building on our adopt-a-school partnership with the school."
The Festival opens at 5:00 PM on Friday night until midnight, re-opens at noon on Saturday until midnight, and noon on Sunday until 9:00 PM.
