Rock Solid Safety Winner
Racine Quarry Wins Health & Safety Award
May 29, 2007 - Vulcan Materials Company Racine Quarry has been recognized by the Illinois Association of Aggregate Producers (IAAP) for safety and health excellence with the 2006 Rock Solid Safety Gold Award.
"We strive to maintain an industry leadership position in all aspects of safety, health and environmental stewardship," said Midwest Division President Rob Vogel. "We are very proud of the example set by the employees of the Racine Quarry who are committed to the safety and well being of their co-workers, our customers and neighbors."
The Rock Solid Safety Award program recognizes IAAP members who set high safety and health standards in the conduct of their operations. Recipients have sound safety and health programs and encourage other mine operators and service providers to use recognized systems and methods to prevent injuries or illnesses. For three consecutive years, the Racine Quarry has been honored by the IAAP with a Rock Solid Safety Award.
"By rewarding our industry's health and safety leaders, such as Vulcan Materials Company, this program encourages other companies to adopt systems and methods designed to prevent job related injuries or illnesses," said John Henriksen, Executive Director of the IAAP.
