Improvements to begin
After proposed improvements.

May 1, 2007 - The Village of Caledonia approved plans for Vulcan to mine a 1.92 acre area located in the west pit and continue landscape improvements along Three Mile Road.
The area to be mined is known as the "peninsula" and is bordered on the south by Three Mile Road and existing quarry mining operations on the east, west and north.
From an operations and production standpoint everything stays the same - but with planned improvements along Three Mile Road including:
Demolish abandoned buildings
Construct berming
Install new fencing
Fine grade and prepare area for plantings
Plant lawn, trees and shrubs
Operation:
Current production levels, operations and shipping will remain the same.
We will continue to use the latest technology and engineering to design our blasting levels to minimize any impacts to our neighbors.
Timeline:
It is estimated that site preparation and construction of the berms would be completed in 1 year.
Production mining would progress onto the peninsula after site preparation is complete.
Depending on market conditions, the peninsula would be mined over a 3-4 year period.
