Racine's Rock Solid Safety
Local Vulcan Materials facility cited for safety excellence
June 2006 - The Vulcan Materials Company Racine Quarry has been recognized by the industry for safety excellence by winning the Rock Solid Excellence in Safety Award. Midwest Division President Rob Vogel lauded the employees of the facility for their hard work and their success. Rob also extended thanks to Plant Manager Don Lindner for his leadership.
"Safety is not a slogan we display on the wall," said Vogel. "We live safety every day in every aspect of our operations. We go to great lengths to ensure each of our facilities is safe for our employees, customers and communities. It's all about being a good corporate citizen. We're proud of the positive example the Manteno Quarry sets for our company and the industry."
Rock Solid Excellence in Safety Award is the highest award level granted by the Illinois Association of Aggregate Producers (IAAP) and recognizes members who set high safety and health standards in the conduct of their operations. Recipients have sound safety and health programs and encourage other mine operators and service providers to use recognized systems and methods to prevent injuries or illnesses.
